FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (actually no-one has asked anything yet)
How do I know what my character is?
We have assigned supervillain or superhero characters to most of you who we know are coming. If you are coming but haven't got or seen what character you have been assigned, that's probably because you're missing a vital piece of information that was with your invitation! Let us know and we'll remedy this for you.
What should I wear?
Please wear something comfy. It’s Hawkes Bay, in summer, so it’s probably going to be boiling. Also, there will be loads of dancing so wear comfy shoes. The wedding has a 1950s vibe so do feel free to bring out your best 50s gear. It also pays to remember your secret identity. If you want, you can wear something subtle that your character might wear. It all adds to the fun.
What time should I rock up?
The wedding ceremony begins promptly at 3:30pm (please note that this changed from 4:30pm). We suggest turning up at 3pm when hopefully you’ll receive a glass of bubbles to kick the day off.
Where can I stay in Hawkes Bay?
There are a few places to stay that are close to the venue
https://www.parksidelodge.co.nz (you get a small discount if you book here and tell them that you're there for the Buckland/Sinkins wedding)
http://www.ballinamotel.co.nz/
How should I get to Hawkes Bay?
You could take a bus:
www.nakedbus.com
www.intercity.co.nz
You could take a plane:
www.airnewzealand.co.nz
You could ask us if we can hook you up with other friends coming from your area too.
Where is the venue?
It’s at The Old Church Restaurant in Meeanee. Here is a google maps link to the location.
How can I get back to where I’m staying after the wedding?
We'll try to hook people up with rides with other guests if they're heading in the same direction (let us know if you'd like us to do that).
Otherwise, sharing a taxi with people is a great way to get around and save money. You can call these taxis:
Hawkes Bay Combined Taxis (06) 835 7777
Star Taxis (06) 835 5511
Can I bring a plus 1 or my kids?
Unfortunately due to the limited number of people we can cater to at the wedding, we’ve had to watch numbers pretty closely which means kids and +1s won't be able to join us (unless specified on your invite).
I want to express my creativity at your wedding – can I do this?
If your creativity involves getting naked and painting yourself in cow’s blood, then I’d probably hold off from doing it at our wedding. If you are into music stuff, please do bring instruments and voices and we’ll have a jam session during the wedding sometime.
Can I take videos/photos during the ceremony/reception?
We definitely encourage photos and videos throughout the wedding. The only thing is we ask that you don’t upload photos of the bride and groom immediately to social media. I (Tamara) would like to make sure all photos are flattering before being uploaded. However, photos of you at the wedding, the venue, the food etc should all be shared and please use our hashtag #philamara so they’ll appear on our live Twitter feed.
